nVent ERICO and Copperweld® now offer compatible grounding and bonding connectors and conductors for the utility market. With the demand on the power grid increasing daily, it’s vital to have reliable products throughout it to limit disruptions and avoid outages.
This collaboration brings together nVent’s ERICO grounding and bonding solutions, nVent ERICO Hammerlock and nVent ERICO Cadweld Exothermic Connections, and Copperweld ArcAngel and Copperweld Copper-Clad Steel conductors.
“We aim to provide safe, reliable grounding and bonding products to utilities,” said Dan Holm, nVent, Power Utility and Renewables Growth Leader. “Utilities can now use our products with Copperweld conductors, giving them more ways to protect the power grid.”
nVent ERICO Cadweld Welded Exothermic Connections have worked in conjunction with Copperweld Century conductors for various connections, including cable to cable, cable to ground rod, cable to bus and lug and cable to steel surface, for decades, and now works with the newest Copperweld ArcAngel offering. These large-diameter cable connections are manufactured with a steel core to strengthen the conductor, which results in a conductor that performs just like copper in grounding applications but has the strength to deter threats from theft, wind, loosening, and breakage. nVent ERICO Cadweld connections offer a permanent connection resistant to corrosion, vibration, and other environmental factors.
nVent ERICO Hammerlock has gone through rounds of testing and is now certified for use with Copperweld Copper-Clad Steel conductors. nVent ERICO Hammerlock innovative ground clamps create an irreversible mechanical connection by connecting the grounding conductor to the ground rod with a simple hammer swing. nVent ERICO Hammerlock can be installed three to five times faster than an acorn clamp.
